The Necessary Introduction

It’s safe to say that, in this moment, we are complete and total strangers, unless you are someone who I know who is reading this (in that case, hey mom!). So, there’s no better way to start off my first ever post as Denim N’ White with an introduction. Let’s become friends, shall we?

I’m Norah Murphy. I’m a 21 living in a teeny tiny town in Northern New Jersey. I have a pretty weird family (in a good way, but please don’t ask me about my family tree or else your head will explode.) I’m studying at Parsons the New School for Design in their Design and Management program. All my life I’ve wanted nothing more than to be a part of the fashion industry…and to have unlimited money and clothes and makeup and food but that’s besides the point, so deciding to go to Parsons was a given.

Anyway, I’m sure you’re already tired of me talking about college. Odds are, you are in the same place as I am; the only thing people talk about right now is college, and you’re tired of it. Right? Right.

So let’s talk the fun stuff. I was a ballet dancer throughout my four years in high school and absolutely loved it, I still do. Although I’m not nearly as flexible as I used to be. single tear streams down cheek. Fashion and ballet aren’t my only interests though, no sir. Makeup holds a special place in my heart. I honestly think I’ve run out of surface area on my vanity to rest all of my makeup on; it’s a tragic addiction. I’m also completely obsessed with social media, as most millennials are, and I seriously cannot get enough of YouTube and Instagram. I’m pretty sure that makes me the least unique I could possibly be but hey, you can’t win them all.

Along with that, I’m essentially a professional babysitter. If you’re #blessed enough to be Snapchat friends with me, you would know that every single one of my Snapstories features me posing with at least two small children captioned “squad” or “my bffs”. I live a really cool life, clearly! I also work at a small boutique in a neighboring town, which is pretty fun.

You’re now probably wondering “but Norah, why did you start this blog? Please enlighten us. And also, I’m totally in love with you and you look great today!”

Alright, so you may not have been thinking that exact thing, especially that last part about looking great considering I’m sitting in my room at 12:40 in the morning wearing no makeup in a robe… STYLE! But I’m going to explain myself anyway. I started this blog as a way to keep myself productive. There’s nothing I hate more than sitting in my room doing absolutely nothing. It makes me feel like a total blob… so I decided to start a blog!

The reason I called it Denim N’ White is quite simple; as I got through my first year of college I developed a personal style with consisted of the colors blue, white, and black and really nothing else. Maybe a blush pink or beige on a special day. You can always find me in those colors whether I’m wearing boyfriend jeans with a stripped top and combat boots or a chambray dress with a pair of black sunglasses and white mules, so I figured there was nothing better to name this blog. Plus, the N in the middle is a shameless inclusion of my first initial.

Alright, so we probably didn’t become BEST friends from this post, but we’re definitely at that I-really-have-to-pee-but-this-is-my-first-time-at-this-person’s-house-so-I’ll-just-hold-it-for-another-5-hours phase, and I’m okay with that. But we’re not going to become best friends if you never visit this blog again, so please feel free to wander through my posts. Head over to my fashion tab to get your daily dose of clothes and style, head on over to beauty if you’re wondering if the new Nars foundation is any good, read through my Sassy Diaries to see what’s the haps (I’m sorry HAHA) in my life, and don’t forget to click that Carly and Norah Show link!

I hope this blog gives you the feeling I get from it, which is a total casual experience filled with all of the things I love most in this world. Which apparently includes extremely long text posts. Apologies, guys! I’ll finish it up right now. Enjoy reading and happy exploring!

Xox, Norah.
